One mask, one horse | BIBO Pulmifier® Tournament Edition

ORDER NOW - SHIPPING FROM 29.10.2026

Weeks. Sometimes months. For this one competition.

Early mornings, training, adjusting the feed, vet, farrier, physio. You know your horse better than anyone else, and you have given it everything.

In between

Your horse is inhaling. Nothing special, just saline solution, completely harmless.

A quick swap

Your mask is in the wash, so you quickly borrow the one from your fellow livery owner. Nobody thinks twice about it.

The doping test

The report shows a substance you have never given your horse.

You know you have done nothing wrong. You still have to prove it.

Somewhere in the borrowed mask there were still residues of another horse’s medication, perhaps on the rim, perhaps in the seal. It does not take much. And overnight there is a question mark over everything you have worked for.

Clean Sport

Contamination is not a fringe issue

When it comes to doping, most people think of intent. In everyday stable life, however, problems often arise somewhere else entirely:

Shared feed buckets Stables that have not been cleaned Equipment that gets passed around
What the FEI recommends (selection, paraphrased)
Separate, clearly labelled feed buckets for horses that receive medication in their feed
Gloves when handling medication
Label medication with the horse’s name and store it locked away
Never put a horse in a stable that is not clean

Find out more on the FEI Clean Sport page.

An inhalation mask sits directly on the nostrils and muzzle. If it is used on a horse that inhales doping-relevant medication and then on a competition horse, the risk is obvious.

The story behind it

An idea that has been around before

The idea behind the Tournament Edition is not new.

Around ten years ago

Around ten years ago, when inhalation masks for horses were still new in Germany, the idea of a dedicated competition mask was born. It was a coloured mask that was supplied exclusively to competition riders. Anyone who saw the colour in the stable knew immediately that this mask belonged to a competition horse and was not used on any other horse.

Equitana

Riders and vets welcomed the concept. At Equitana it was one of the reasons for the innovation award we received at the time.

The lesson

The competition mask was later not continued as a stand-alone product. For us, this was an important lesson: a colour only protects as long as it remains permanently exclusive.

Today

With the BIBO Pulmifier® Tournament Edition, we are taking up the idea again. The colour is reserved for this edition, and we only supply it to competition riders on proof.

BIBO Pulmifier® Tournament Edition

What makes the Tournament Edition different

An exclusive colour

The mask comes in a colour that only exists in this edition. Not a design gimmick, but a clear signal in the stable: do not lend it, do not swap it and never use it on a horse that is currently receiving doping-relevant medication.

For competition horses only

We only supply the Tournament Edition to riders whose horses are tested at competitions. Please send us a short proof before ordering to hello@bibo-pulmifier.com, e.g. a competition licence or registration with the federation. We will then set up your order. It takes two minutes and protects everyone who uses this mask.

No substitute for diligence

No mask in the world makes careful handling of medication unnecessary.

But it closes a gap that many people are not even aware of.

One mask. One horse.

And one less worry on competition day, so that in the end all that counts is what you both show in the arena.

To the Tournament Edition
